PorchFest DSM 2025:
A Free, Strolling Music Festival on our Front Porches in Union Park
Come join us on Sunday, September 7th, 2025 for our 4th annual PorchFest DSM in the Union Park Neighborhood in Des Moines, Iowa!
This family friendly, free event features 20 musical acts from a variety of genres performing throughout the neighborhood surrounding beautiful Union Park. Migrate from one performance to the next and sit a spell on front lawns and sidewalks to enjoy 1-hour sets of live music, starting every half-hour all afternoon.
Maps and the Band Schedule are available at our HQ tent while they last, or you can find everyone playing each half hour today with your smartphone. (Just please don't wander in the street while looking at either one!)

Street parking is available in Union Park, Birdland Marina, and the surrounding neighborhoods, or you can walk or bike in on the Neal Smith bike trail.
Wear walking shoes and feel free to bring a lawn chair, sunscreen, and cash or Venmo to tip your favorite musicians!

What is PorchFest?
The first PorchFest started in 2007 from music-loving neighbors Gretchen Hildreth and Leslie Greene in Ithica, New York, and has since grown into a national grass-roots movement of over 230 neighborhoods! Connecting local musicians with porches where they can perform for an hour while attendees stop to listen, all the while connecting with neighbors and friends. Bikers, runners, skaters, scooters, strollers, packs of friends, or just come on your own, all are welcome to participate!
Local homeowners have an opportunity to host a solo artist or ensemble, needing only to be able to provide a porch and a connection to an electrical outlet for the event.
PorchFest DSM in Union Park highlights the breadth of musical talent in Central Iowa and brings important attention to historic Union Park. Our vision is that this event continues as an annual experience that will highlight different historical districts throughout the Des Moines Metroplex.
