FAQ for Hosts

PorchFest DSM 2023 Host Information

Thanks for hosting a musician/band on your porch! We want attendees to feel as welcome as possible. Therefore, as hosts there are just a few things that you can expect:
  • We will supply maps to concert goers that include the name of the artists, location and the time of your concerts. Feel free to add balloons or festive banners, or any other creative signage to bring attention to your porch concert
  • We want PorchFest Attendees to feel as welcome as possible, you can expect them to arrive on foot, or on a bike, or with kids in strollers, with a lawn chair as they come to watch the performance.
  • Please inform your neighbors that you will be hosting bands on your porch before the event. Also, we encourage you to invite friends and family to join you for your porch concert and encourage them to walk the neighborhood to hear others.
  • We will provide PorchFest Tip Buckets for donations and tips for the musicians. All donations will go directly to the artist following their performance, and will be collected by the artist.
  • Feel free to provide additional seating for folks who may need it. Some bring chairs, couches, rugs, etc out to the lawn as they feel comfortable. Attendees are directed to bring their own seating, however it’s great to have extras.

Day-of Checklist:
  • Electricity available/ Extension cord if necessary
  • Place signs and decorations out so people can find you
  • Place your Hook and Tip Bucket out
Most of all, have fun! The point of PorchFest is to support community, live music, and to have a great time. Enjoy your porch concert!
